Dear Backers,

Here’s an interim update on the status of our crowdfunding project.

iOS app to be released

We’ve tested the first version of the iOS companion application. We’re sending the app to Apple’s AppStore for review in a week’s time. The review is expected to take 10 days before it is published to the AppStore. We will keep our backers on the status of the application review process.

Development API

Development of API(Application Programming Interface) for advanced users to develop software applications to control the camera settings is completed. We’re going through the review of the software API and documentation before release.

The API requires a newer version of the camera’s software to work. We’re expecting the launch both the software and the API together in the next update in 3-4 weeks.

We are also trying to expose more controls of the camera via API over time.

TINY2 = NANO1

TINY2 camera is officially renamed as NANO1. The basic information for the new camera is on the new and updated website www.tinymos.com.

The TINY1 backers page has also been revamped. All existing backers’ names are now viewable at https://www.tinymos.com/tiny1-info/.

Dear Backers,

Thank you for your kind patience waiting for the backer’s update.

We’re making good progress on improving the Android companion app’s user interface and general performance. An update had been posted on the Google Playstore yesterday. (Access it at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tinymos.tiny1companion)

iOS application development is also underway. We are testing the first build of the iOS application. We expect to release an early version by the next update.

Key changes to the Android application

  • Improved User Interface

    • File transfer screen now indicates if the file is a timelapse (with icon)

    • Reduced thumbnail size to see more files on screen
    • File transfer screen shows file name below thumbnail
    • Remote screen texts outlined to improve visibility when preview is overexposed
  • Improved stability
    • Fix file transfer not working when phone is connected to camera hotspot
    • Preview now updates in real time when you scroll the setting wheels
  • Other minor bug fixes

Apart from the phone side application software, the team has also been working on the camera software.

  • Software enhancements:
    • Gallery is more responsive when opening
    • Added SIMBAD database search to star map. Searching of astronomy object possible even if it does not exist in local database (requires internet connectivity via WiFi)
    •  Custom focal length input
    • Preview live stream now streams in higher quality (testing for stability and compatibility with lower end phones now)
  •  Other minor bug fixes

The new camera software is expected in 2-3 weeks and will be released with the next backer update.

Other works in progress:

  • iOS camera companion application

    • Prototype is being evaluated for stability. Features are being added to match the Android version.

  • Development of API for advanced users to develop software applications to control the camera.
    • Release of development API will allow advanced users to develop 3rd party control software.

Best regards,

Dear Backers,

We're excited to announce the release of the latest TINY1 software update. It comes with the smart phone remote control application for remotely viewing the camera, adjusting exposure and remote transfer of the images.

We're excited about the images that you will capture with the TINY1. The smart phone pairing feature will make sharing on social media more seamless than the existing bluetooth sharing function.

We hope to see great images from the community. When uploading, please use the hashtags #theTinyMOS #TinyMOS. Our Instagram handle is @TheTinyMOS

The application will be available on the Android Play Store shortly: Check out our Play Store ID here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/developer?id=TinyMOS

Software update is available here: http://update.tinymos.com/tiny1/ (V2.0.2)

The update guide is available here: https://bit.ly/2vFfv6z (Please follow the guide there but the download link as directly above for V2.0.2.)

The team is looking into the technical requirements to create the same application in iOS.

Shipping updates:

As of today 820 cameras have been shipped from TinyMOS to the hand of backers around the world. We are still working on manufacturing more cameras to fulfill our backers.

The road to manufacturing hasn’t been a smooth sailing one. Every component on the TINY1 had to be custom designed. Getting them manufactured to specification from various suppliers worldwide and assembled by hand has not been the most easy thing.

To our backers thank you for your support and you kind patience on the matter. We are glad to have all of you on our journey.

Best regards,

Grey
